Well he knew he was going to die eventually, and Desmond said that if Charlie died in that situation, Claire would get rescued (even though that didn’t happen) But I don’t know why he slammed the door shut on Desmond, keeping him from talking to Penny, cause Des knew Charlie was going to die anyways. So I don’t really agree with you, Charlie was being brave (sorry for long response)
